A beautiful day for a walk in the park.

Friday April 11, 2014.

Swan Lake Village area,
Markham, Ontario

On the day before our mute swans, Romeo and Juliet returned to the lake, another pair of Swans were checking out our lake as a possible nesting site. Now that we have warmer weather and the ice is gone I thought I might send out a few of the pictures of these two romantic Trumpeter Swans.

Trumpeter Swan
I took this picture from the pier and the two Trumpeter Swans were swimming along between the pier island and the landing area.
During their visit to the lake they kept starting the courting dance but I think the lack of open water discouraged them as they flew off.
The lake at the time was 90% covered with a mixture of ice and slush.

The geese on the lake were upset to see the swans.

Finally they flew off to the west.
