These are shots taken mainly in Swan Lake Park over the period May 22nd to May 31st. As expected at this time of year there are a few baby pictures.


Swan Lake Park - May 22nd

 
 
Canada Goose
Mother and 6 goslings swimming in the east pond.
 



Swan Lake Park - May 25th

 
 
Great Blue Heron
The Great Blue Heron is fishing in Swan Lake Park again. This picture was taken from the Swan Feeding Station as it came in for a landing on the east shore.
 


 
 
Great Blue Heron
Just after landing the Great Blue Heron checks the shallows for fish and frogs to eat. The Heron stopped at a number of locations along the shore and finally settled on the log stuck in the shallows out in the middle of the lake.
 


 
 
Mute Swan
Romeo is getting ready for the eggs to hatch by chasing the Canada Geese away from the north east end of the lake. Here he has one trapped on the shore.

This gosling was swimming through the waves on the lake, on this very windy day,

Swan Lake Park - May 30th

 
 
Red-Winged Blackbird
The young Red-Winged Blackbirds are leaving the nest and flying short distances. It's father was staying very close to protect it.

This male was doing everything it could to try and draw our attention away from the young bird in the previous picture.
 


 
 
Canada Geese
Three young goslings running through the grass trying to keep up with mommy. Shot taken on the gravel path south of the East Pond.
 


 
 
Northern Cardinal
While standing on the pier this Male Cardinal flew into the trees beside us.
 



Swan Lake Village - May 30th

 
 
Eastern Cottontail
This cute little fellow was sitting in the grass about 10 feet from our deck.
 



Swan Lake Park - May 31st

 
 
Mallard Duck
Mother and 6 ducklings swimming along the eastern shore of Swan Lake. The picture is not the best due to distance and the light.
However it's the first sign we have seen that any ducklings were hatched on the lake this year.
