A beautiful day for a walk in the park.

Thursday April 11, 2013.

Swan Lake Village area,
Markham, Ontario

After a very cold and short spring, winter returned in force today. Everything is covered in snow and they say we will be getting ice pellets and freezing rain tonight. These pictures are not pretty but are meant to show the effects of the changing weather. I took the pictures of Swan Lake and the geese just before sunset which meant there was not a lot of light for taking pictures.

Canada Geese
We went out on the pier to see how the geese were dealing with the weather and found a trail of goose tracks leading to the water.

Canada Geese
The change in the weather may have caused a number of flight cancellations as the geese seem to be taking refuge on Swan Lake.

And more geese!!!!

and more geese!!!

and even more geese flying in every minute.

I think there were over 400 geese on the lake and more still flying in.
