A beautiful day for a walk in the park.

Tuesday August 07, 2012.

Swan Lake Village area,
Markham, Ontario

A few shots from early August this year.

Swan Lake Park - August 5th, 2012

Mallard Duck
While walking along the path on the north side of the lake just past the Swan Club I saw this cute fellow swimming close to shore.
This is the same one I've taken pictures of in the previous emails.

Mute Swans - AWOL
As you know for a couple of weeks the Swans were sneaking off to the North West end of the park where the childrens play area is.
Here we see the escapees apparently being led by Juliet. 7:57pm

Here we see Romeo checking out the area while Juliet leads the cygnets. The people at the play area certainly seem to be enjoying seeing the swans.

Here the whole gang stops to enjoy the grass. They seem to be travelling up to this area of the park specifically to enjoy the grass. I guess the grass is allways tastier on the other side of the park.

Swan Lake Park - Aug 6th

Great Blue Heron
The great blue heron was perched on a log on the south side of the lake near the west end. It was visible from the bridge on the north shore. Allthough the light was poor so late in the evening, 8:30pm, I thought you might enjoy this shot.

Swan Lake Park - Aug 7th

Song Sparrow
This song sparrow was sitting high in the branches of the tree catching the setting suns light.
