A beautiful day for a walk in the park.

Sat August 13, 2011.

Swan Lake Village area, Makham, Ontario

Swan Lake Park

Mute Swans
Romeo and Juliet are still staying at the Island near the pier.

Mallard Ducks.
The ducks were sunning themselves on a log near the pier as well.

Turtle.
Also enjoying the sun on another log beside the Ducks.

Model Sailboat
A gentleman was sitting in a camp chair near the pier using a remote control to control this model sailboat.

Model Sailboat
Tacking into a strong wind.

Great Blue Heron
At least one of the Great Blue Herons is still on the lake. Excuse the quality of the shot, the Great Blue Heron was sitting in a tree on the far side of the lake about 400 meters away and was not visible at that distance to the human eye.

Red Tailed Hawk.
Two Red Tailed Hawks were flying over the lake.

Black-crowned Night-Heron (juvenile)
We were at the bridge at the far western part of the lake when we noticed an unusual large bird well camouflaged in amongst some branches. It took a very long time to figure out what this bird was but it turned out to be a juvenile "Black-crowned Night-Heron"

Turtles
In the same area we saw a very well organised group of turtles sharing a single branch floating in the water.

Monarch Butterfly
As we finished our walk a Monarch butterfly landed nearby.

Monarch Butterfly
With wings closed.
